With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
In the studio with Frans Verburg and Benjamin Rheinlander to write new songs and finish my new EP. August 27 the first single will be released.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
I planned to play a lot of shows but unfortunately that didn't happen. So I chose to keep going, to write songs and create music instead of sitting and waiting. (Taking a break and not doing anything is one of the hardest things 'to do' for me in general).
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
Actually last year I've had therapy. I was coping with a lot of stress that came from anxiety. The lack of trust in myself as a musician, fear of failing and not being good enough made me feel bad. So I've been working on taking more time to create, be kinder to myself and started meditating. It really helped me accept things more. Still a long way to go. I also decided to film, produce and edit my own musicvideo by myself. It was a hell of a job but I loved it and I learned a lot from the entire process. This video will be released together with the second single of the EP at October 8th.
As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?
Everything is so insecure, it's driving me crazy. But I planned a live session with the Frequenzy Session on September 12th. This will be recorded and filmed and I'm very looking forward to that. Apart from that I'm already writing new songs and I'm back in the studio.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
I hope you're well and that music can take you to (imaginary) places you can't go to physically right now.
